Thuraya has signed roaming agreements with many GSM operators in three continents and is in the process of finalizing others.
Roaming partnership allow cellular subscribers to use their mobile phones in a GSM service area where their home GSM operator has a roaming agreement. This contributes to the geographical expansion of the service coverage area of GSM networks, providing greater movement flexibility for GSM subscribers travelling across borders.
Partnerships with Thuraya make it possible for GSM subscribers to have access to the latest mobile satellite technology. These users can access Thuraya network in the whole Thuraya footprint area in and out of their home countries and wherever GSM coverage lapses. Meanwhile, Thuraya subscribers can roam within any live roaming partner GSM network according to their preference or when they are out of Thuraya satellite coverage reach.
Thuraya has launched prepaid roaming service which will allow Thuraya prepaid subscribers to make calls and send SMS while roaming on GSM networks.
This service will also allow GSM prepaid subscribers to make calls send SMS when roaming into Thuraya satellite network.

• GSM subscribers with home network enabled roaming service, can roam on Thuraya network using the home GSM SIM card with a Thuraya terminal.
• Thuraya subscribers can roam in any of Thuraya’s operational GSM Roaming Partners network using Thuraya SIM card in any compatible SGM phone.
• Roaming in Thuraya network in only possible with a thuraya phone on ‘Satellite Mode.
